3. Copyright and Intellectual Property

3.1 Original Content

You retain copyright to your original creations but grant Modding Lounge a license to host and display your content. You are responsible for ensuring you have all rights to upload and distribute the content.

3.2 Third-Party Content

When using others' work, obtain explicit permission from original creators and follow their permissions and licenses. Provide clear credit and links to originals, don't modify content against authors' wishes, and remove content if requested by the copyright holder.

3.3 Fair Use

Educational, transformative, or commentary content may qualify as fair use, but you are responsible for determining if your use qualifies. We may remove content pending copyright dispute resolution.

3.4 DMCA Compliance

We comply with DMCA takedown notices from copyright holders. Users can submit counter-notifications if they believe removal was in error. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.

4. Content Moderation

4.1 Automated Moderation

All text content is analyzed for harmful content using Google Perspective API. Content scoring high for toxicity, threats, hate speech, or explicit material is automatically flagged. High-severity violations are auto-rejected with strikes applied, while medium-severity content is placed in draft status for manual moderator review. NSFW content is automatically detected and tagged.

4.2 Moderation Actions

Possible outcomes:

SeverityActionConsequence
CriticalAuto-reject + StrikeContent blocked, strike applied
HighDraft + FlagManual review required
MediumFlag for reviewPublished but flagged
LowLog onlyNo immediate action

4.3 Human Review

Flagged content is reviewed by human moderators who can approve, reject, or apply NSFW tags. Users are notified of all moderation decisions and can submit appeals for contested removals.

4.4 Transparency

You receive detailed explanations for content removals, and moderation logs are maintained for accountability. Appeals are reviewed by different moderators to ensure fairness, and we publish quarterly transparency reports.

6. NSFW Content Policy

6.1 NSFW Levels

None (SFW)

  • No mature content
  • Appropriate for all ages
  • Default filter level

Mild

  • Suggestive themes or dialogue
  • Mild violence (cartoon-style)
  • Revealing clothing (not nudity)
  • Mature language or themes
  • Examples: bikini armor, innuendo, T-rated game content

Moderate

  • Partial nudity (underwear, implied nudity)
  • Realistic violence without gore
  • Sexual themes without explicit content
  • Drug/alcohol use
  • Examples: topless characters (strategic covering), blood, M-rated game content

Explicit

  • Full nudity
  • Sexual content or intercourse
  • Graphic violence or gore
  • Extreme themes
  • Examples: sex mods, dismemberment, torture, AO-rated content

6.2 NSFW Requirements

Accurate NSFW declaration is mandatory—when in doubt, choose the higher level to be safe. Cover images must be SFW or Mild at most, and descriptions should remain tasteful regardless of content level. NSFW content is hidden by default; users must explicitly opt-in to view it.

6.3 NSFW Violations

Deliberate mis-tagging results in 2 strikes and content removal. Explicit content without proper tags results in 3 strikes and a 30-day ban. Any sexual content involving minors results in instant permanent ban and report to law enforcement.

  • .7z, .zip, .rar (compressed archives)

7.3 VirusTotal Scanning

All uploads are automatically scanned for malware. Files with 3 or more virus detections are quarantined for review. You can appeal false positives, but intentional malware uploads result in instant permanent ban.

8. Content Organization

8.1 Metadata Requirements

All uploads must include a clear title, detailed description, game/platform information, version number, requirements, installation instructions, credits, and appropriate tags. This metadata helps users discover and properly install your content.

8.2 Categories and Tags

Use relevant categories and add descriptive tags to improve searchability. Tag all dependencies, requirements, and compatibility information so users can easily find and understand what your mod needs to work properly.

8.3 Changelog Requirement

Document all changes between versions with dates and version numbers. Describe bug fixes, new features, and note any breaking changes that might affect user installations.

9. User Behavior Standards

9.1 Comments and Discussions

Keep comments relevant and constructive without harassment, insults, or personal attacks. Be respectful in disagreements and avoid spam, advertising, or off-topic discussions.

9.2 Bug Reports

Report bugs constructively with details, avoiding duplicate reports and demands for immediate fixes. Be patient with authors and provide requested information promptly.

9.3 Engagement

Use kudos to show appreciation, follow creators you enjoy, and share content responsibly. Provide helpful feedback and contribute positively to the community.

10. Enforcement and Appeals

10.1 Reporting Violations

Use the "Report" button on content to report violations with specific details. Don't abuse the report system—false reports may result in penalties against your account.

10.2 Moderation Review

Reports are reviewed within 24-48 hours by human moderators who consider context in all decisions. We enforce policies consistently and fairly across all users.

10.3 Appeals Process

If your content is removed, review the moderation notice carefully. Submit an appeal with explanation and evidence if you believe it's an error. Appeals are reviewed within 7 business days, and decisions are final after the appeal review.

10.4 Repeat Offenders

Users with 4 or more strikes are permanently banned and cannot create new accounts. Evading bans results in IP-level blocks. Severe violations bypass the strike system entirely.

11. Changes to Content Policy

  • This policy may be updated as needed
  • Material changes announced to all users
  • Continued use constitutes acceptance
  • Existing content may be reviewed under new policies

12. Special Circumstances

12.1 Parody and Satire

Parody content is allowed if clearly labeled and not mistaken for official content. Parodies are still subject to all other policy restrictions.

12.2 Archives and Preservations

Archiving discontinued mods may be allowed with proof of permission from the original author. Historical content must be clearly labeled with mandatory original author credit.

12.3 Educational Content

Tutorials, guides, and educational mods are encouraged. Content must be accurate and helpful while respecting others' intellectual property in examples.
